Mahesh Manjrekar: Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ Success is Thanks to Maharashtra!

Mahesh Manjrekar Talks About the Success of ‘Chhaava’
Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar recently sat down for an interview with Mirchi Marathi and had some interesting things to say about the massive box office success of Vicky Kaushal’s latest film, ‘Chhaava’. The movie raked in a whopping ₹800 crore, and Manjrekar believes that while Kaushal is a talented actor, the film’s success goes beyond just his star power.
Manjrekar explained that if audiences had only been drawn to Kaushal, they would have liked his previous films as well, but those didn’t perform as well. He thinks the audience connected with the specific character Kaushal portrayed in ‘Chhaava’.
But Manjrekar also had a big shoutout for Maharashtra. He’s convinced that the state played a crucial role in the film’s success, attributing 80% of the credit to Maharashtra, with a whopping 90% of that going to Pune specifically! He even went so far as to say that Maharashtra helped save the Hindi film industry.
