Good news for Maharashtra! A new report has declared it India’s top-performing state, beating out other contenders on both economic and social fronts. Gujarat came in a close second, followed by Karnataka. The report, ‘State Ranking 2025’ by CareEdge Ratings, analyzed states across seven key areas: economic growth, fiscal responsibility, infrastructure development, financial progress, social well-being, governance effectiveness, and environmental sustainability.
Western and Southern States Shine
Interestingly, western and southern states dominated the top rankings. Western states like Maharashtra and Gujarat scored high in financial development, economic strength, and fiscal stability. Southern states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, excelled in economic growth, financial development, environmental protection, and governance.
Goa Leads the Smaller States
Goa emerged as the top performer in Group B, which includes north-eastern, hilly, and smaller states. It impressed with strong scores across multiple categories, including financial development, infrastructure, social progress, fiscal management, and economic performance.
