Rahul Gandhi Urges Unity in the Face of Terrorism

Following the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 people, Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has called for a special session of Parliament. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi emphasized the need for India to demonstrate its unwavering unity against terrorism.

‘The terrorist attack in Pahalgam has outraged every Indian. At this critical time, India must show that we will always stand together against terrorism,’ Gandhi stated, also sharing his plea on social media platform X. He stressed that Parliament must serve as a platform to showcase the nation’s collective resolve and unity in the face of such tragedies.

Congress Demands Action and Unity

This call for a special session comes shortly after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also penned a letter to Prime Minister Modi, echoing the same sentiment. The Congress party has been vocal in its criticism of the government’s handling of the situation, particularly after the PM’s absence from an all-party meeting convened to discuss the attack.

Kharge accused Modi of neglecting the meeting, highlighting the BJP’s perceived attempts to divide the country at a time when national unity is paramount. The attack, which took place at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam last Tuesday, is considered one of the deadliest in the Kashmir Valley since the Pulwama bombing in 2019, where 40 CRPF personnel tragically lost their lives.

The nation is reeling from the shock of this latest attack, and the calls for a united front against terrorism resonate deeply.
