Congress Demands Parliament Session After Deadly Pahalgam Terror Attack

Congress Urges PM Modi for Special Parliament Session

After the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, the Congress party is calling for a special session of Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, both wrote letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to convene a special session where representatives can come together to show unity and determination in the face of this horrific incident.

Several other opposition lawmakers have echoed this demand, emphasizing the need for a collective response to the attack.

Call for Unity and Collective Resolve

In his letter, Kharge stated, “At this moment, when unity and solidarity are essential, the opposition believes that it is important to convene a special session of both Houses of Parliament at the earliest. This will be a powerful demonstration of our collective resolve and willpower to deal with the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam on innocent citizens on April 22.”

Kharge also criticized Prime Minister Modi for not attending an all-party meeting on the Pahalgam attack and accused the BJP of dividing the country. He emphasized the need for unity during this crisis.

Government’s Response

The Indian government has condemned the attack, citing “cross-border linkages” and promising severe punishment for those responsible.
