Wife Travels to Pathankot Amidst Husband’s Detention

Rajani Shaw, the wife of BSF constable Purnab Kumar Shaw, who is currently in Pakistani custody, has embarked on a journey to Pathankot. She expressed her deep concern and frustration over the lack of information regarding her husband’s release.

Rajani, who is pregnant, left for Pathankot with her eight-year-old son. She hopes to meet her husband’s commanding officer there and gain clarity on the situation.

What Happened?

Constable Purnab Kumar Shaw was detained by Pakistan Rangers last week after accidentally crossing the border in the Ferozepur sector of Punjab. This incident occurred while India was taking diplomatic action against Pakistan following a terrorist attack in Kashmir that claimed the lives of 26 tourists.

According to reports, Shaw was guarding farmers in the Mamdot block when he unintentionally strayed across the zero line, still in uniform and carrying his service rifle.

Seeking Answers and Action

Despite assurances from BSF officials, Rajani has chosen to travel to Pathankot in hopes of getting concrete information about her husband’s well-being and the progress being made in securing his release.

“I know people of this nation are concerned about my husband but as a wife I am extremely worried. What will I do with assurances? I cannot stay home while he is being held in Pakistan. I want to talk to his CO and find out what’s going on,” Rajani Shaw said before her departure.

Diplomatic Tensions Complicate the Situation

The incident has further strained relations between India and Pakistan, already tense following the terror attack. Flag meetings have been held to discuss Shaw’s release, but they have yet to yield any concrete results.
