Delhi Court May Pause Audit of Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Delhi Court Considers Pausing Audit of Ajmer Sharif Dargah
The Delhi High Court is taking a closer look at whether to temporarily halt a planned audit of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, a revered Islamic shrine in India. The court made this decision after hearing a plea from the dargah challenging the audit, which was ordered by President Droupadi Murmu.
According to the dargah’s lawyers, news reports indicate that President Murmu has given the go-ahead for the audit, and a team of two officials has been selected to conduct it.
The lawyers emphasized that under Indian law, the dargah should be formally notified of the audit’s terms and given the opportunity to raise objections. They argued that this crucial step hasn’t been taken yet. The court agreed to hear the matter further on May 7th, giving the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) time to respond.
