The Indian Navy’s existing fleet of Mig-29 K fighters has been giving them some headaches due to maintenance problems. The Rafale M jets will be customized to meet India’s needs and will be integrated with INS Vikrant, India’s newest aircraft carrier. Interestingly, the Indian Air Force already has 36 Rafale jets from a separate deal signed back in 2016. These jets are based in Ambala and Hasimara. So this deal is basically expanding the Rafale family within the Indian military.
