Shakti Dubey Bags Top Spot in Civil Services Exam
Civil services aspirant Shakti Dubey has emerged as the topper of the 2023 Civil Services Examination, securing a commendable 51.5% marks. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently released the detailed marks of the successful candidates, revealing Dubey’s impressive performance.
Dubey, a 28-year-old postgraduate from Banaras Hindu University, achieved a total of 1,043 marks, with 843 coming from the written exam and 200 from the personality test (interview). This marks her fifth attempt at the coveted exam, and she opted for political science and international relations as her optional subject.
Other Top Performers
Close behind Dubey is second-rank holder Harshita Goyal, who scored 1,038 marks (51.28%). Goyal, a 24-year-old postgraduate in chartered accountancy, cleared the exam in her third attempt with political science and international relations as her optional subject. The third and fourth ranks were secured by Dongre Archit Parag and Shah Margi Chirag, respectively, both achieving 51.28% and 51.11% marks.
Other notable mentions include Delhi topper Aakash Garg, who secured the fifth rank with 50.96% marks. Garg, a 24-year-old postgraduate in computer science, cleared the exam in his second attempt.
About the Exam
The UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination annually in three stages: preliminary, main, and personality test (interview). This rigorous process aims to select officers for prestigious services like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS). This year, a total of 1,009 candidates cleared the exam, with 725 being men and 284 women.
