Tensions Flare Again on LoC After Pahalgam Attack

Renewed Clashes Along the Line of Control
Things are heating up between India and Pakistan. For the third day in a row, the Pakistani Army fired at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC), the disputed border between the two countries. While the Indian Army has responded, these repeated firings are raising concerns that tensions are escalating further. This comes after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22nd, which killed 26 people.
The attack, which India blames on Pakistan-based militant groups, has caused a major rift between the two nations.
China Backs Pakistan Amidst Rising Tensions
Adding to the complexity, China has stepped in to support its close ally, Pakistan. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, expressing Beijing’s backing for Pakistan’s sovereignty and security. Wang Yi also urged both India and Pakistan to keep a cool head and avoid further escalation.
India’s Response and the Pahalgam Investigation
Meanwhile, India has launched a sweeping investigation into the Pahalgam attack. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case, vowing to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy. India is also taking strong diplomatic action, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and closing the Attari border crossing.
