Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday, expressing deep anguish over the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, including a Nepali citizen, and injured over 36 others.

During his 121st episode of Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi assured the victims’ families that justice would be served. He highlighted the global condemnation of the attack, saying world leaders had reached out with messages of support and condemnation.

“The terrorist incident that took place in Pahalgam… has hurt every citizen of the country. Every Indian holds deep sympathies for the affected families,” PM Modi stated, emphasizing the unity and solidarity of the nation in the face of terror.

India Takes Strong Action Against Pakistan

In response to the attack, the Indian government announced the immediate revocation of most visas issued to Pakistani nationals, effective from April 27, 2025. This decision, excluding long-term, diplomatic, and official visas, signals a significant shift in policy and aims to enhance border security.

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan held a video conference with chief secretaries of all states, instructing them to take necessary action.
