The FBI Director, Kash Patel, recently spoke out against the tragic Pahalgam attack in Kashmir, expressing his condolences and offering full support to the Indian government. The attack, which took place on April 22nd, left 26 people dead after terrorists targeted tourist areas in the region.

Patel, who has Indian roots, made his statement on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. He shared his sorrow for the victims and their families and emphasized the FBI’s commitment to assisting India in any way possible. He also stressed the global threat of terrorism, calling it a constant danger that the world faces.

This tragedy comes at a sensitive time, as tensions between India and Pakistan have long been a source of conflict in the Kashmir region. The US President, Donald Trump, also commented on the attack, calling it “bad” while acknowledging the long-standing conflict between India and Pakistan. However, he made an inaccurate claim about the Kashmir issue’s age, stating it has been ongoing for 1,500 years. Nevertheless, Trump reassured India of his support in bringing the perpetrators to justice and spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express his condolences.

Beyond official statements, the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs took a stance by correcting a New York Times article that referred to the attackers as “militants” instead of “terrorists.”,

The Pahalgam attack serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of terrorism and the continued need for international cooperation in combating this global threat.
