Civilian Killed in Kashmir Shooting Amid Tight Security

A 44-year-old civilian, Ghulam Rasool Magray, was tragically killed in a shooting in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday night. Unidentified gunmen entered Magray’s home in the Kani Khas area and opened fire, critically injuring him.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later transferred to Srinagar, but sadly succumbed to his injuries. Magray was shot in the abdomen and wrist, according to officials.
Police have launched an investigation into the killing.
This incident comes at a time of heightened security in the Kashmir Valley following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday. That attack, which targeted a group of tourists, resulted in the deaths of 25 people, including a local man.
In response, security forces have been conducting a massive crackdown on militants across the region. Over 2,000 people have been detained in the past four days, and police have raided the homes of suspected militant supporters.
