Afridi Condemns India’s ‘Blame Game’ After Pahalgam Attack

Tensions are running high between India and Pakistan following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of at least 26 people. Amidst this, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has strongly criticized India for accusing Pakistan without any evidence. Afridi, in a statement, expressed his deep regret over India’s actions, saying they only escalate tensions and hinder peace efforts in the region.
He urged India to engage in dialogue instead of resorting to blame-shifting, emphasizing that sports, especially cricket, should remain free from political interference.
This comes after several Indian cricketers, including Sourav Ganguly and Shreevats Goswami, called for a complete boycott of Pakistan in all cricketing ties.
Adding fuel to the fire, Pakistani women’s cricket team opener Gull Feroza stated that her team is not interested in playing in India for the upcoming Women’s World Cup.
While India is set to host the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, agreements between the BCCI, ICC, and PCB dictate that matches involving India and Pakistan will be held at neutral venues until 2027.
Feroza confirmed that Pakistan will be playing their World Cup matches at a neutral location, likely in Sri Lanka or Dubai, citing similar playing conditions to those they are accustomed to in Asia.
